PBL: Mumbai beat hosts Awadhe Warriors

Ajay Jayaram's come-from-behind win over Kidambi Srikanth helped Mumbai Rockets beat Awadhe Warriors 4-3 in their Premier Badminton League tie in Lucknow on Friday.

Jayaram's 5-11, 15-14, 11-5 win was his first-ever over Srikanth.

"It was an awesome match and I'm happy to have helped my team get the early lead," Jayaram said. "The momentum was against me and I am glad that I hung in and finally win the match.'

In the other big match of the day, Saina Nehwal (Awadhe) beat world No. 3 Sung Ji Hyn 12-10, 4-11, 11-5. Sung levelled the match after losing the first game but could not match Saina's intensity in the decider.

In the first match of the tie, Lee Yong Dae and Nipitphon Puangpuapech (Mumbai) beat Markis Kido and Goh W Shem 7-11, 11-3, 11-13 in men's doubles.

Later, H S Prannoy (Mumbai) beat Vincent Wong Wing Ki 12-14, 11-9, 8-11.

In the last match of the day, Savitree Amitrapai and Bodin Isara (Awadhe) beat Nipithphon Phuangphuapet and Nadiezda Zieba 11-8, 11-4 in the mixed doubles.
