Daly, who is 6-foot-3 and 230 pounds, chose the Irish over Northwestern. He committed before Notre Dame's spring football game on Saturday.
"Notre Dame has always been his dream school," said long-snapping instructor Chris Rubio, who has worked with Daly for the last two years . "He was offered in January by Northwestern, and that was the earliest I've heard of a junior long-snapper being offered. He liked Northwestern and coach [Pat] Fitzgerald, but he's always had his heart set on Notre Dame."
Daly is considered one of the top long-snappers in the country.
"He has a great combination of skills," Rubio said. "He has great size, got incredible smoothness and speed and a great work ethic. He's a good all-around kid, too."
Notre Dame has five Class of 2012 commitments.
