Marquel Lee is the first player from Wake Forest drafted since CB Kevin Johnson went 16th overall in 2015. Plus, the Raiders have drafted five linebackers since selecting OLB/DE Khalil Mack at No. 5 in 2014, with all five coming in the fifth or sixth round, per ESPN Stats & Information.

Marquel Lee said the Raiders approached him at the combine after he put up 25 reps in the 225-pound bench press. A foot injury kept him from running at the combine, though he clocked a 4.69/4.70 time in the 40 at his pro day.

Raiders fifth-rounder Marquel Lee said GM Reggie McKenzie told him he will compete for a starting gig at linebacker, and Lee played mostly MLB in a 4-2-5 defense at Wake Forest.

The Raiders select Wake Forest linebacker Marquel Lee with their fifth-round draft pick, No. 168 overall. Lee, a 6-foot-3, 240-pounder, addresses the Raiders' need at inside linebacker as he had 20 tackles for a loss among his 105 tackles last fall for the Demon Deacons. Not likely a starter, he could compete with the likes of Ben Heeney or learn from Perry Riley, Jr., should the Raiders re-sign him.
