Former Cal quarterback Max Gilliam announced he will transfer to UNLV. Gilliam redshirted during his only season in Berkeley and transferred to Saddleback Junior College after coming out of spring ball at No. 3 on the depth chart. He will compete at UNLV with Armani Rogers, who started nine games as a redshirt freshman this season and was named Mountain West Freshman of the Year. At one time, both Rogers and Gilliam were both committed to Cal.

UNLV headlines Week 12's least likely winners

UNLV's win over New Mexico was the least likely win of the week. Miami is a surprise member of the list after struggling early against Virginia.

UNLV kept its bowl hopes alive with a 38-35 win at New Mexico. The Rebels scored a game-winning touchdown in the final minute to move to 5-6 on the year. All that stands between UNLV and the postseason is a game with rival Nevada (2-8) next week. A bowl appearance would be just the fifth in school history.
