Group of 5 schools considering own playoff

A growing number of Group of 5 officials are in favor of adding a playoff specifically for the Group of 5 schools because it's been 32 years since a non-Power 5 team won a national championship.

I just spoke with Brian Johnson, who confirmed he's headed to Houston as offensive coordinator. Johnson, a Baytown, Texas native who had been Mississippi State's quarterbacks coach, will be Houston's offensive play-caller on Major Applewhite's staff. Sports Illustrated first reported the hire.

San Diego State beats Houston 34-10 in the Las Vegas Bowl. The ViewFromVegas is the Aztecs did it after closing as 5-point underdogs and +170 on the money line. The game also stayed under the betting total of 51 points.

Donnel Pumphrey is dazzling with 115 yards, while the secondary that leads the nation in picks has three more today.
