Kiser named to Butkus Award watch list

Last season, LB Micah Kiser was a semifinalist for the award, which is given to the nation's top linebacker. Kiser had 134 total tackles (10 for loss) in 2016.

Virginia quarterback Kurt Benkert (No. 6) and safety Quin Blanding (No. 3) have some impressive tattoos. Benkert's have special meaning -- his father did them all. Benkert said he never had any interest in tattoos until he decided to get one at age 17. He's been hooked ever since.

Two graduate transfers will not join Virginia

Virginia coach Bronco Mendenhall announced that two expected graduate transfers, Missouri quarterback Marvin Zanders and Notre Dame offensive lineman Colin McGovern, will not enroll as planned.

ACC commissioner John Swofford said he expects the revenue gap between his conference and the Big Ten and SEC to close once the ACC Network launches in 2019. "That's why we're doing the channel," Swofford said. "We fully expect a gap with particularly the Big Ten and SEC here for a couple of years but that's the very reason we've signed to do what we're doing. We fully expect that gap will narrow considerably when we get the channel up and running."
