Cristiano Ronaldo sets his price for summer exit from Real Madrid

With the calendar soon turning over to the new year, the gossip ahead of the January transfer window is heating up. Transfer Talk brings you all the latest rumours.

Ronaldo seeking Real exit

We've heard this one before, but Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly asked Real Madrid to grant his wish to leave the Santiago Bernabeu and set an asking price of no more than €100 million.

Duncan Castles writes in the Daily Record that Ronaldo's relationship with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has reached a "dangerously low ebb," with the pair not even on speaking terms at the moment.

That has alerted Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, who have been told by Ronaldo's representatives that he will "fight for a move" next summer.

Despite claims that Ronaldo is past his best, the 32-year-old collected his fifth Ballon d'Or at the start of December after leading Real Madrid's La Liga and Champions League triumphs last season.

Umtiti on Premier League radar

Manchester City and Manchester United are both tracking Barcelona centre-back Samuel Umtiti, according to the Daily Mail.

Umtiti has a £54m release clause in his contract, which suddenly looks a tempting price after Liverpool's record-breaking move for Virgil van Dijk.

Van Dijk had been an option for City, but their attention could now switch to Umtiti, who has impressed alongside former United defender Gerard Pique at the heart of Barca's defence this season.

The 24-year-old France international is reportedly on £52,000 a week at the Nou Camp, with City and United both prepared to triple his wages in a bid to lure him to Manchester.

Goretzka to Liverpool

If this turns out to be true, it could be the coup of the winter transfer window.

According to The Sun, Liverpool have finalised a pre-contract agreement with Leon Goretzka, whose current deal at Schalke expires at the end of the season.

Goretzka, who has also been linked with Bayern Munich, Juventus, Arsenal and Tottenham, is highly rated in Germany and has scored six goals in 12 appearances for the national team.

The Sun quotes German outlet Bild as saying the 22-year-old will join Naby Keita in moving to Anfield, with confirmation expected in the near future.

Barkley bids expected

Chelsea hope to sign Ross Barkley from Everton in January as the midfielder steps up his recovery from a hamstring injury, reports the Telegraph.

Barkley was close to joining the Blues in the summer but decided against the transfer at the 11th hour. That hasn't put off Antonio Conte, who could now land his man midway through the season.

Tottenham are also interested in the England international but would prefer to wait until his contract expires next June.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are working hard to tie down Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois to new contracts.

- Manchester United are keeping a close eye on Napoli pass-master Jorginho, claims the Manchester Evening News. The 26-year-old midfielder is viewed as a potential long-term replacement for Michael Carrick.

- According to the Daily Mail, Stoke will duke it out with Southampton to sign Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge in January. The 28-year-old is aiming to secure first-team football to make it into England's World Cup squad.

- West Ham are plotting a January swoop for Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey, claims the Daily Mirror. The 25-year-old has struggled with discipline issues this season and could be sold for £12m.

- According to Brazilian outlet Esporte, Spurs have had a €35m bid for Bordeaux winger Malcom rejected. The 20-year-old has been in fine form this season with Arsenal and Manchester United also tracking his progress.
