Gabriel Jesus has undergone a successful operation on his injured metatarsal, Manchester City have confirmed.

Gabriel, 19, fractured the metatarsal bone in his right foot in the 2-0 Premier League win against Bournemouth on Monday.

City tweeted a picture of him alongside the message: "All smiles and a thumbs up from Gabriel Jesus after his foot operation in Barcelona. We will keep you updated on his progress!"

The striker is now expected to miss a run of three crucial Premier League matches against top-four rivals Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea in March and April.

Since joining City in January Gabriel established himself ahead of Sergio Aguero in Pep Guardiola's team after scoring three goals in his first two Premier League appearances.
