FAR HILLS, N.J. -- Nathaniel Crosby is returning to Royal Liverpool for the Walker Cup, this time as the U.S. captain.
The USGA has selected Crosby to lead the Americans in the 2019 matches at Royal Liverpool. Crosby played on the 1983 team that beat Great Britain and Ireland the last time it was held at Royal Liverpool.
Crosby is the son of Bing Crosby. He won the 1981 U.S. Amateur at Olympic Club, and a year later was the low amateur in the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach. He also was part of the World Amateur Team Championship that the Americans won in 1982.
The Walker Cup is the amateur version of the Ryder Cup. The Americans won this year 19-7 at Los Angeles Country Club.
