Source: NCAA clear to probe hoops trial evidence

The NCAA has received federal approval to move forward with an investigation into alleged rules violations that came to light during last month's trial involving college basketball corruption, ESPN has learned.

AZ board to talk legal advice about team, Miller

The Arizona board of regents will meet in a closed session Thursday for "an update" to the university's investigation of the men's basketball program.

The Arizona Board of Regents has called a special meeting in Phoenix on Thursday "for legal advice and discussion" regarding the University of Arizona men's basketball program. University of Arizona president Robert C. Robbins is expected to address the board, according to a spokeswoman.

Jurors are continuing their deliberations in a federal criminal trial in New York involving pay-for-play schemes to send money from Adidas to the families of recruits at Kansas, Louisville and NC State. The jury has agreed to work until 8:30 pm ET Tuesday, if needed. They'll be back Wednesday if a verdict isn't reached.

A jury started its deliberations on Monday in a federal criminal trial involving pay-for-play schemes in college basketball. Adidas employee James Gatto, former Adidas consultant Merl Code and Christian Dawkins, a former runner for NBA agent Andy Miller, are charged with conspiracy to commit wire fraud and wire fraud for paying the families of recruits to attend Kansas, Louisville and NC State

Former Adidas consultant TJ Gassnola, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and testified during this month's federal criminal case concerning corruption in college basketball, will be sentenced on Feb. 1. Gassnola is accused of helping facilitate $90,000 to former Kansas player Billy Preston's mother, $20,000 to current Jayhawks player Silvio De Sousa's guardian and $40,000 to former NC State player Dennis Smith Jr.'s father.
