Nych Smith and Josh Ferguson scored 20 points apiece as Winthrop defeated Hampton 101-91 on Saturday. Ferguson also had eight rebounds for the Eagles.

Bennett collapses due to dehydration (0:54)

Virginia's Tony Bennett on collapsing during the game: "Been a little under the weather the last couple of days. when you're squatting and get up quick, I just blacked out a little bit. I've had more Powerade than I've ever had in my life so hopefully I'm hydrated well. That's happened before, when you get up quick and get a little dizzy."

Virginia senior forward Anthony Gill reached out one hand on Coach Tony Bennett and said a short prayer after Bennett collapsed: "I was praying just to make sure he was okay. It worked. I healed him."

Virginia rolls past Hampton to open NCAAs

While head coach Tony Bennett dealt with a bout of dehydration, his top-seeded Cavaliers routed the 16-seed Pirates 81-45. Anthony Gill led the way with 19 points. Virginia will face 9-seed Butler Saturday. Box score

Virginia's Tony Bennett is using the small chairs normally only used in his timeout huddles in the second half. Even when he's stood up briefly, he hasn't made any quick movements after collapsing at the end of the first half due to dehydration.

Virginia coach Tony Bennett told the broadcast crew that he was fine after dehydration caused him to collapse at the end of the first half. He's back coaching the second half, but looks like he's decided to sit instead of standing/walking the sideline.
