Much of the talk this season about the Alabama offense has centered around the quarterback situation, but Nick Saban told ESPN this week that it's as good as the Crimson Tide have been at the offensive skill positions since he's been in Tuscaloosa. "We have more guys who can make plays around the quarterback than we've probably ever had." Alabama is averaging 56.7 points and 544.7 yards per game this season.

The appeal of Nick Saban and Alabama football stretches far and wide. A fan from Alaska attended Saban's radio show on Thursday night, and earlier in the day, Saban visited in his office with fans from Iceland.

I don't think anybody on Alabama's staff is surprised by Tua Tagovailoa's performance tonight against Louisville. My sense in being there last week was that he was the guy who would best utilize all of the Tide's skill players and unlock that offense. He just provides a different dimension with his ability to throw the ball and spread it around.

Nick Saban tells a great story about his first game as Michigan State's coach in 1995. The Spartans were manhandled 50-10 at home by Nebraska, which was in the midst of a 60-3 run over five years under Tom Osborne. As the two coaches met at midfield to shake hands after the game, Saban said Osborne looked at him and said, "Nick, you're not as bad as you think you are." To this day, Saban thinks that 1995 Nebraska team is as complete a team as he's seen in college football. "They had everything," said Saban, who's got his own dynasty going at Alabama with five national championships in the last nine years.

I recently spoke with Collin Sexton on some of the adjustments in the game from middle school to the NBA. 1. Middle school to high school: "Learn the game, don't just play the game." 2. High school to college: "Scouting report defense and the ability to read a defense. I watched a lot of film. Be ready to watch a lot of film." 3. College basketball to the NBA: "Nobody graduates. As a rookie you are playing against five and ten year veterans in practice and in games."
