Here is what Cardinals' reliever Andrew Miller, who has served as MLBPA player rep in the past, told me about the high number of unsigned free-agents: "It's unfortunate. There's a lot of really good players, guys I know, that I workout with in the off-season, guys that I've watched and admired from across the field, that are sitting around waiting and don't know where they're going. It's not good for the game; we need those guys to be a part of it. There's something about established players and the value they can bring, not only on the field, but in the clubhouse and to fan bases. It's something I hope resolves itself very soon (but) I don't know how optimistic I am about that. In general, players are certainly upset with it, because even if you're not going through it right now, all these guys in the clubhouse hope to eventually get to free agency and hope to experience that, and right now it's not working too well."
