Mayfield carries Browns to first win since 2016

Rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield brought the Cleveland Browns back from a 14-0 deficit to prevail 21-17, snapping a 19-game winless streak dating back to Dec. 24, 2016 -- a span of 635 days.

Ugly start. Jets turn good field position into game's first touchdown. Browns turned good field position into negative yards on three plays. Fans are restless at the listless offense as Browns trail 7-0.

Tyrod Taylor finished the first quarter 1-for-7 for 2 yards. He started 0-for-6 on his first two drives. ESPN Stats and Information reports that the last quarterback to go 0-for-6 or worse on the first two drives of a game was Jay Cutler in 2012 (0-6).

The Browns wasted good field position, losing yards on three downs after taking over at the Jets 39. The Jets pass rush is causing major problems. They have free blitzers coming through on a regular basis.

Browns fans are cheering loudly in the stands as new kicker Greg Joseph is warming up and making his field goals. The team signed the rookie kicker on Monday to replace Zane Gonzalez, who missed four attempts that cost the team eight points in a three-point loss Sunday against the Saints.

Receiver Jarvis Landry and safety Damarious Randall both are active and will start against the Jets. They had been listed as questionable on Wednesday.
