The Bucs do get the Falcons coming off a Monday night trip out west, but Matt Ryan & Co. might exploit Tampa Bay's issues with consistency and third downs on defense.

Here are Wednesday's Bucs and Falcons injury reports...both Robert Ayers and Evan Smith are in the concussion protocol, and Vernon Hargreaves (hamstring) and Jameis Winston (shoulder) are both still out.

Bills rookie Nathan Peterman said Buccaneers and former Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick reached out to him after Peterman's poor debut Sunday against the Chargers. "[Fitzpatrick] told me about his rookie year and stuff. That was helpful to see," Peterman said Wednesday.

FPI ranks best games of Week 12: Buccaneers at Falcons

Ryan Fitzpatrick will once again get the call at QB for Tampa Bay. So far the Buccaneers have won both of his starts, albeit against the Jets and Dolphins. The Falcons will be a much tougher test.

Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive end Simeon Rice, cornerback Ronde Barber and safety John Lynch have all been named semifinalists for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Time for Bucs to focus on draft?

Although the Buccaneers have won two in a row, this comes after a five-game losing streak that all but derailed their playoff hopes. FPI projects Tampa Bay to have just a 1 percent chance of qualifying for the postseason. Even landing a top-10 pick appears to be worse than a coin-flip proposition.

This was Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter's announcement Monday that Jameis Winston will not play against the Falcons this week. He also assessed the performance of backup Ryan Fitzpatrick after two games. "My confidence [in Fitzpatrick] is the same," Koetter said. "I'm sure other people's has grown, but Ryan's done exactly what I thought he would do."

Grading the quarterback play for the Bucs

Be it Jameis Winston or Ryan Fitzpatrick under center, Tampa Bay has generally covered ground efficiently before struggling to get into the end zone.

Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston's shoulder was re-evaluated today and he is not ready to return, per head coach Dirk Koetter. He is out this week against the Falcons and will be re-evaluated next week.

Fitzmagic building steam

Buccaneers QB Ryan Fitzpatrick led Tampa Bay to a 30-20 win vs. the Dolphins on Sunday, going 22-for-37 for 275 yards with a pair of touchdown passes, no interceptions and a 100.6 rating. Fitzpatrick is now 2-0 as a Bucs' starter. He also started 2-0 with the Jets in 2015 and the Texans in 2014, but has never reeled off a 3-0 start with any of his previous six teams. Doing so could be a tall order as the Bucs travel to Atlanta next week. (Elias Sports Bureau)

It has now been two weeks since Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston was shut down to give the sprained AC joint in his right shoulder a rest. He received a PRP (platelet rich plasma) injection to accelerate healing. The original timetable for Winston's recovery was "at least two weeks" with the notion that doctors would re-evaluate this week.
