Indian shooters win five medals in Jr World Cup

India won five medals, including three golds, to take their medals tally to 23 on day four of the ISSF Junior World Cup in Azerbaijan on Wednesday.

Ahnad Jawanda in the individual men's 25m pistol competition. Gurmeet, a part of the all-Indian gold medal match in the event, finished with a silver. Ahnad and Gurmeet then teamed up with Arjun Das to win the team gold in the same category.

In the women's 25m pistol, Chinki Yadav, Gauri Sheoran and Sanjana Sehrawat won the gold with a combined score of 1701. Chinki and Gauri also reached the individual competition finals along with Muskan.

Chinki qualified for the bronze medal match but eventually lost out to Anna Dedova 3-7, while Gauri and Muskan finished seventh and eighth respectively.

The women's trap team comprising Pragati Gupta, Soumya Gupta and Manisha Keer won bronze with a score of 176.

In the junior men's 50m rifle 3 positions event, Subhankar Pramanick, who had earlier won the 50m rifle prone gold, finished eighth in the final standings.

India have won a total of nine gold, five silver and nine bronze medals in the competition so far and are ranked second in the medals tally behind Russia.
