Source: Kansas State is hiring Wyoming's Scottie Hazelton as its new defensive coordinator. Hazelton held the same position with Wyoming the past two seasons and also held coordinator roles at Nevada and North Dakota State. He replaces Ted Monachino, who spent only weeks in the role before leaving to join the Chicago Bears coaching staff.

Source: Kansas State will not be blocking QB Alex Delton's transfer to TCU, despite media speculation on Wednesday. Delton, a grad transfer, will be eligible for '19 season. Like Oklahoma with QB Austin Kendall/West Virginia, Kansas State had option to block Delton from playing for TCU this season.

Source: Kansas State defensive coordinator Ted Monachino, who recently joined Chris Klieman's staff, instead is expected to leave for a spot on the Chicago Bears defensive staff. Football Scoop first reported the likely move. Monachino served as defensive coordinator for new Bears DC Chuck Pagano with the Indianapolis Colts and also worked with Pagano on the Baltimore Ravens coaching staff. It will be interesting to see where Klieman turns for his next coordinator hire.

Kansas State target Littrell to stay at North Texas

Seth Littrell has decided to remain at North Texas after Kansas State had expressed interest in one of the nation's up-and-coming coaches to replace Hall of Famer Bill Snyder.

Interesting rumblings today on Kansas State. I've heard various candidate combinations, all with North Dakota State's Chris Klieman, most with Memphis' Mike Norvell, some with Oregon defensive coordinator Jim Leavitt. Troy's Neal Brown, I'm told, also in consideration. Brown is unique because he followed a veteran coach (Larry Blakeney) and took over a Troy program that had been struggling a bit, like Kansas State is now. He's 30-8 since 2016.

Is now the time for Bill Snyder to retire?

Snyder built Kansas State football. He is Kansas State football. He's won 215 games at a place that managed two winning seasons in the 34 years before his arrival. But is Snyder's time finished?

Jake Trotter ESPN Staff Writer

Iowa State scores 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to stun Kansas State, ending the Wildcats' season at 5-7. Bill Snyder's future will be a focal point of discussion in the coming days.
