India's second match in the 2023 FIH Hockey World Cup ended in a thrilling, albeit goalless, draw against England on Sunday at the Birsa Munda stadium in Rourkela.
Both teams had chances aplenty, but Oliver Payne in the English goal and the alternating duo of Krishan Pathak and PR Sreejesh in the Indian goal put in superb performances. There was plenty of goalmouth action but in a traditionally high scoring match (There were 21 goals in the last three matches between the two), the scoreboard operators remained untroubled.
England remain atop the group, on Goal Difference, but with Spain winning comfortably against Wales, the last matchday has plenty of tension surrounding it.
A worry for India, though, will now be Hardik Singh -- who suffered an injury late on in the match and was seen limping off. Updates are awaited on his injury status.
