Atlanta United acquired defensive midfielder Mo Adams from the Chicago Fire on Wednesday in exchange for $100,000 in general allocation money.
Adams, 22, is in his second MLS season after being drafted No. 10 overall in 2018 out of Syracuse.
The Nottingham, England, native appeared in 15 games in 2018 and has one assist in 10 games in 2019.
"Mo is a talented young player with the ability to play multiple positions for us," Atlanta vice president and technical director Carlos Bocanegra said in a club statement. "We like his versatility and his competitiveness will serve us well moving into the second half of the season."
Atlanta also placed 23-year-old forward Gordon Wild on waivers.
