The Cubs have been held without a hit through 5 innings tonight as Walker Buehler is on his game. He has 5 strikeouts without issuing a walk. The only base runner reached on a ground ball to short off the bat of Kris Bryant. The play was deemed an error as Kike Hernandez threw wide first but it easily could have been ruled an infield hit. The Dodgers lead on an Alex Verdugo home run off of Yu Darvish who's been solid in his return to Dodger stadium.

Joe Maddon tried to be as diplomatic as he could be regarding home plate umpire CB Bucknor, and his strike zone, after the Cubs loss to the Dodgers on Friday: “Unfortunately, whenever that fellow works, everybody expects that in advance. It's hard to argue because it's equally offensive to both sides. That's as kind as I can be.”

Clayton Kershaw was asked whether he looks at Jon Lester, four years older, as a model for how he could age. "I have a lot of respect for Jon and what he's done in this game," Kershaw said. "He's remained consistent and super healthy. He takes the ball every fifth day, he's always out there. He's a big man, too, He's a big, big man. It's impressive to see what he's doing. There's a lot of guys out there like that — Scherzer, Verlander. Guys that are, thankfully, a good bit older than me but they're still going strong. There's hope."
