Justin Upton homered on the first pitch he saw in his return from the injured list, Mike Trout had a solo homer among his four hits, and the Los Angeles Angels used a seven-run second inning to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 10-5 Monday night.

Blue Jays announce that Vlad Guerrero Jr. suffered a left hand contusion; X-rays were negative for fracture. The Blue Jays' third baseman was hit on the left hand by a Gerrit Cole fastball in the first inning of the game in Houston. He was taken out of the game in the second inning; replaced at third base by Eric Sogard.

Blue Jays place closer Giles (elbow) on 10-day IL

The Toronto Blue Jays placed right-handed closer Ken Giles on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to an inflamed elbow. The move is retroactive to June 9. Joe Biagini will serve as closer in Giles' absence.
