Not a classic in terms of quality but for drama and tension it didn't go without. Spain set out with a defensive game plan, looking to break when they could, and it was working for them - until Portugal got the goal. It came out of nothing but was a cracker. After that it was an open game but, despite having chances, Spain just couldn't claw it back.

There it is and a nation lets out a collective roar of, to be honest, relief. 1-0 the final score. Portugal go through, Spain are out and, with the other game finishing 2-1 to Russia it is Portugal who win the group with Greece coming second. Sapin fail at a major tournament again.
