Commentary
The full-time whistle goes, and Sunderland bag their first victory of the new season with a 1-0 win over Fulham. Isidor rose from the substitutes' bench to seal the three points for his side as he tapped home from Diarra's cross in the 75th-minute against a Fulham side who lacked imagination in the final third. The visitors failed to record a single shot on target at the Stadium of Light, meaning the Londoners have now suffered consecutive defeats in their first two Premier League games under new manager Alvaro Arbeloa. Isidor could easily have put Sunderland a goal up earlier in the half when his right-footed effort struck the post in the 71st minute, but he maintained his composure to fire home just four minutes later. Sunderland recorded 1.75 xG in total, compared to Fulham's 0.93, and the hosts now look to a trip to Brentford in six days. Meanwhile, Fulham prepare to host Crystal Palace on the same day. That's all for this one, thanks for joining us!
FULL-TIME: SUNDERLAND 1-0 FULHAM
CHANCE FOR MUNDLE!! Sunderland could have won it there and then, but Mundle is unable to find a way past Leno to bag the points. Once again, it's Xhaka who creates the chance as he catches the Fulham defence off-guard, allowing Mundle to run behind and fire a left-footed effort towards goal. It's straight at the Fulham goalkeeper, though, and Fulham are still in it...just about.
What a chance that might've been for Sunderland if Isidor had been alert. Xhaka initially played another exquisite cross-field pass to Meunier, who then delivered a brilliant first-time cross on the volley. The ball is teed up beautifully for a Sunderland man to tap the ball home and seal the points, but there's no one there and Fulham survive...
Mundle is involved quickly as he blocks Garcia's right-footed effort in the box as the visitors win a corner. Sessegnon crosses from the right, but Roefs gathers the ball comfortably. Fulham have been so poor in attacking areas today.
There will be FOUR minutes of stoppage time. Can Fulham muster something out of nowhere?
