Incredible scenes at the San Siro as 10-man Inter hold on to claim a 1-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk. The win sees Inter claim their first victory of the league phase after suffering two defeats in their opening two matches. It initially looked as though the hosts would be left frustrated again when Bastoni was sent off in the 68th minute after receiving two yellow cards in quick succession. Shakhtar looked to hit back when Newerton drew a fine save out of Josep Martinez two minutes from time, and the Inter goalkeeper held firm again to deny Matviienko from the resulting corner. Inter recorded 0.99 xG in total compared to the 0.56 put up by the visitors, and the hosts now look to a meeting with Fiorentina on Sunday.
