Mahoney, Whyte help Boston U beat Lehigh 92-81
BOSTON -- Max Mahoney had 22 points on 9-of-14 shooting and freshman Walter Whyte had his first career double-double to help Boston University beat Lehigh 92-81 on Monday night for coach Joe Jones' 200th career win.
Whyte tied his season high with 16 points and grabbed a career-high 13 rebounds. Will Goff tied his career best with 17 points -- all in the first half -- and Tyler Scanlon also scored 17 with eight rebounds and five assists for BU (7-8, 3-1 Patriot League).
Goff hit all of his career-high tying five 3-pointers during a 32-8 run that gave the Terriers a 45-22 lead late in the first half and Lehigh (7-8, 2-2) trailed by double figures until Kahron Ross hit a 3 with 65 seconds to play. BU made 18 of 30 (60 percent) from the field, including 7 of 10 from 3-point range, in the first half.
Lance Tejada and Pat Andree combined to hit 10 of 20 from 3-point range and score 40 points. Andree made 7 of 12 from the field, including 5 of 9 3-pointers, and finished with 19 points.
