Cole, a 6-foot-1 freshman guard, has scored in double figures in all 30 games this season. Williams, a 6-6 sophomore, has reached double-digit scoring in 27 games.
Cole hit a 3-pointer that erased Delaware State's only lead of the game, Williams followed with a layup and the duo combined for 15 straight points over the next 3:34, giving Howard (9-21, 6-8 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) an 11-point edge.
Cole is the MEAC leader in both scoring and assists and he dished eight against the Hornets.
Delaware State (3-26, 1-13) was coming off a win against Coppin State that snapped a 21-game losing streak and earned its first victory against a Division I opponent this season.
