Big sixth inning lifts Auburn over Milwaukee in regional final

Chase Fralick's go-ahead home run in the sixth inning started a five-run rally that propelled Auburn to an 8-3 victory over Milwaukee on Monday at Plainsman Park, clinching the Auburn Regional in the NCAA baseball tournament.

Fralick, who went 2-for-5 with two RBIs, broke a 2-2 tie with a solo shot to lead off the bottom of the sixth. The Tigers' offense took it from there, with Bub Terrell hitting an RBI double, Brandon McCraine adding an RBI on a sacrifice fly, Taylor Belza delivering an RBI single, and Mason McCraine capping the rally with an RBI triple to extend the lead to 7-2. Ethin Bingaman also contributed for Auburn, going 2-for-3 with an RBI single in the first inning.

Auburn reliever Jackson Sanders pitched effectively over the final five innings, giving up only one run, three hits and striking out eight to close the game. Starter Jake Marciano pitched the first four innings, giving up two runs and six hits with six strikeouts.

Milwaukee, seeking its first trip to the super regionals, tied the score at 2-2 in the top of the fourth on a two-run home run by John Hadley VI, who finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs. Charlie Marion was a bright spot for the Panthers' offense, going 3-for-4 with a solo home run in the eighth inning. Starter Riley Peterson pitched four innings, giving up two runs and four hits.

The Tigers struck first with a run in the first and added another in the third before Hadley's homer knotted the score. After Auburn's five-run sixth, Marion's homer in the eighth cut the deficit to 7-3. The Tigers added a final run in the bottom of the eighth on a wild pitch.
