UCF Knights @ Florida State Seminoles

Hinde, Griggs homer as Florida State edges UCF 2-1 in postseason clash
Anna Hinde's go-ahead solo home run in the fourth inning proved to be the difference as Florida State edged UCF 2-1 in a postseason matchup Sunday at JoAnne Graf Field in Tallahassee, Florida.
The Seminoles relied on the long ball for all of their offense. After they fell behind in the top of the third, Hayley Griggs tied the game with a solo shot in the bottom half of the inning. Griggs finished 1-for-2 with an RBI, while Hinde went 1-for-3 with her RBI. Makenna Sturgis also contributed a double for Florida State. Starting pitcher Jazzy Francik was effective through 6⅓ innings, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out four. Ashtyn Danley recorded the final two outs to close out the victory.
The Knights struck first in the top of the third inning. Samantha Rey led off with a single and came around to score on an RBI double by Aubrey Evans, giving UCF a brief 1-0 lead. Evans finished 1-for-3 with the team's only RBI. Rey and Coco Jaimes were the only other Knights to record a hit. Pitcher Isabella Vega went the distance for UCF, tossing six innings and allowing two earned runs on three hits. She struck out four batters and walked two in the loss.
The game was a classic pitcher's duel for the first two innings before UCF broke the scoreless tie. After giving up the lead, the Knights were unable to mount a rally against the Florida State pitching staff, which retired 11 of the final 13 batters to secure the win.
The two teams were squaring off in an elimination game later.
