Commentary
Manchester United have lost just one of their last 21 Premier League meetings with Fulham (W16, D4), with that sole defeat coming in a 2-1 loss at Old Trafford in February 2024. That record is now under serious threat, though, as the Red Devils trail at Craven Cottage and face the prospect of suffering a third consecutive defeat in all competitions.

GOOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLL!!!! FULHAM HAVE THE LEAD! 1-0 AT CRAVEN COTTAGE! After a quarter of an hour of the second half in which very little happened, the hosts finally turn the screw. United fail to clear their lines, allowing Bassey to take aim from distance. His effort should be a far more comfortable save for Lammens, but the Belgian goalkeeper makes a mess of it, parrying the ball straight into his own defender, Martinez. From there, it ricochets into the back of the net, and Craven Cottage erupts!
If anyone was going to have a go, it was always going to be the impressive Iwobi. The Fulham forward takes aim from the edge of the box, but the effort never really looked like troubling the target. A helpful deflection takes it behind for a corner, though, allowing the hosts to keep the pressure on.
With neither side having registered a shot since the restart, Robinson looks to inject some urgency with a whipped cross into the penalty area. There aren't any white shirts attacking it, though, and Shaw heads clear regardless, seemingly unaware there was little danger lurking behind him.
After a first half that quite literally broke records, the second period has yet to follow suit. The ball is being moved around at a far more leisurely pace, with both sides looking more fearful of losing than determined to win, and that simply can't be the mentality for Premier League sides.
Fernandes turns brilliantly under pressure in his own half and releases Mbeumo into space. The forward takes the ball in stride, but feels he's been impeded by Affengruber as he tries to break away. The referee sees nothing wrong with the challenge, though, and waves play on as Mbeumo remains on the turf.
