Ferran Torres scored the only goal of the game as Paris Saint-Germain earned their first Ligue 1 win of the season with a 1-0 victory at Brest.

The defending champions had endured a frustrating start to their league campaign, beginning with back-to-back draws before falling to defeat against Monaco last Friday.

PSG recovered with a 6-1 triumph over Slovan Bratislava in the Champions League in midweek and just four days later Torres' fifth-minute effort wrapped up their maiden Ligue 1 success.

Victory moves them into eighth in the table after four games, one spot behind Brest, who slipped to their first defeat this season.

Following a bright start, which saw Nuno Mendes and Achraf Hakimi have shots blocked, PSG went ahead five minutes in through Torres, fresh from his hat-trick against Slovan Bratislava.

The Spain striker latched onto a pass from Ousmane Dembélé and charged into space before coolly dispatching the ball into the bottom-right corner.

Brest looked for a response when Ludovic Ajorque's effort was saved by Matvey Safonov and Egil Selvik was then tested by Dembélé.

Pathé Mboup went close for the hosts, who were frustrated further when both Kamory Doumbia and Mboup had shots blocked.

Ajorque nodded over and Mboup's strike was stopped by Safonov either side of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia being denied by Selvik.

Another surge from the hosts saw Ajorque head wide before Raphaël Le Guen blasted past the upright and on the stroke of half-time, Dembélé forced a low save from Selvik.

Dembélé continued to cause problems after the restart with another blocked shot.

Brest had an excellent chance to equalise five minutes into the second half when Doumbia rattled a post and the midfielder threatened again just minutes later, but Safonov made the save.

Hugo Magnetti fired wide for the hosts before PSG looked to double their advantage as Kvaratskhelia's effort was stopped.

PSG continued to push as João Neves and Désiré Doué both went close before Willian Pacho fired over.

Brest looked to find a late equaliser as Joseph Nonge's effort from distance smashed into a defender and Mboup's frustrations continued when his shot was saved again by Safonov.

A nervous end saw Djylian N'Guessan go close for the hosts, but PSG held on to see out their first league win.
