SALT LAKE CITY -- Jaime Penedo had six saves for the Los Angeles Galaxy, preserving a 0-0 tie at Real Salt Lake in the first leg of Major League Soccer's Western Conference semifinals.

The second leg of the total-goals series is Nov. 9 at the Galaxy, when Los Angeles star Landon Donovan could play his career finale.
Real Salt Lake outshot Los Angeles and earned an edge in the away-goals tiebreaker.
Both teams had goals disallowed in the first half due to offside calls. The game drew 20,713, the second-largest crowd in Rio Tinto Stadium history.
