Robert Beric struck to give Slovenia renewed hope of automatic qualification for Euro 2016 with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Estonia in Celje.

The Slovenes blew a 2-0 lead to fall 3-2 to Group E rivals Switzerland on Saturday and the repercussions were evident as they struggled against the group minnows.

Beric broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute but the hosts were forced to withstand late pressure with goalkeeper Samir Handanovic making a fine save to deny Konstantin Vassiljev an equaliser two minutes from time.

But Beric's strike proved enough to take the points and move the home side back to within three points of Switzerland with two games still to play.
