Nicolas Velez gave NorthEast United 1-0 victory over Atletico de Kolkata at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium on Friday.

Velez fired past Kolkata goalkeeper Amrinder Singh after a deflection caused by Sanju Pradhan fell in his path in the center of the box. It was the Argentine's third goal of the campaign.

The win rises United out of the foot of the table and into sixth, on six points. While the defeat zapped Atletico's dreams of going top of the league.

NorthEast are next in action when they visit Delhi Dynamos on Nov. 3. Atletico will travel to Mumbai to take on City two days prior.
