Kedah v Darul Ta'zim
Juan Martin Lucero goal gives JDT 1-1 draw away to Kedah in MSL
Kedah and Johor Darul Tazim drew 1-1 in their Malaysia Super League (MSL) clash on Saturday evening in the second of three consecutive weekend clashes between the two rivals.
In the same Darul Aman Stadium where Kedah won the first leg of their FA Cup semifinal 2-1 last week, the two teams played out another action-packed and bad-tempered encounter.
The draw puts JDT level on points with league leaders Felda United who can go three points clear with a win at Perak on Sunday.
The fans went wild inside the first minute thanks to midfielder Baddrol Bakhtiar's goal. JDT struggled to deal with a high ball into the area, and the captain swept home a cross-cum-shot from Farhan Roslan.
The first half ended with a penalty as Bang Seung-hwan upended Pererya Diaz in the area and Lucero made no mistake from the spot.
Both teams pushed forward in the second half in search of what would have been the decisive goal.
In the final minute, JDT should have scored. Diaz scuttled free down the right and squared a perfect ball across the area to his fellow Argentinian, unmarked at the far post. Lucero, fortunately for the masses of Kedah fans, scuffed his shot and it was an easy save for Farhan Abu Bakar.
The pair meet again next Saturday at Johor's Larkin Stadium in the second leg of the FA Cup semifinal.
Selangor stay in third place after a goalless draw at PDRM, but the Red Giants are still six points behind JDT.
Terengganu slipped to a fourth successive defeat, losing 3-0 at Kelantan. Wan Zack Haikal grabbed a goal in each half to put the Red Warriors in control, before Fakhrul Zaman added a third at the end to give Kelantan a convincing win.
In the relegation battle between bottom team Sarawak and Pahang, the teams in 12th and 10th, shared the spoils with a 1-1 draw. Juninho put Sarawak ahead in the first half, only for Dalibor Volas's equaliser to earn the Elephants a vital point.
Penang could out Pahang back in the relegation zone with a win at home to T-Team on Sunday.
