Hertha Berlin move second by defeating Hamburg

Hertha Berlin spoiled Markus Gisdol's first game in charge of Hamburg as Vedad Ibisevic's double earned the hosts a 2-0 win.

Hertha's first victory in three games takes them to within three points of Bundesliga leaders Bayern Munich.

Ibisevic gave Hertha the lead in the 29th minute after Hamburg failed to clear their lines from a corner.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina international added a second from the penalty spot 20 minutes from time after Albin Ekdal fouled Valentin Stocker inside the penalty area.

Second-bottom Hamburg had more than enough chances to score at least one goal, but managed only to show their new coach how big the challenge is that he has taken on as Bruno Labbadia's successor.
