Chelsea suffered a 1-0 friendly defeat to Aston Villa in Abu Dhabi as John McGinn scored the only goal of the game while Armando Broja was taken off on a stretcher with an injury.

Graham Potter's side got off to the worst possible start, as McGinn coolly finished a fine team move for Villa in the seventh minute.

Things went from bad to worse for Chelsea when Broja was forced off following a collision with Ezri Konsa -- potentially adding to a long list of first-team absentees for his side.

Chelsea goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli was called into action on several occasions, while his side had chances to equalise through academy graduates Lewis Hall and Ben Elliott, but Villa held on for the win.
