Canisius pulls away late to beat Rider 85-77
LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. -- Kiefer Douse had 21 points, Kassius Robertson added 18 and Canisius beat Rider 85-77 on Friday night.
The Golden Griffens (17-11, 10-7 Metro) pulled away with a 9-2 run to lead 81-73 on Douse's layup with 2:40 left. The Broncs (14-14, 7-10) got the deficit no closer than six from there.
Canisius took control late in the first half, but Rider closed the gap to four before halftime. It was a back-and-forth struggle for most of the second half until Canisius' late run, which started when a Douse dunk made it 74-71 with 4:28 left.
Jermaine Crumpton added 14 points and Martin Dixon-Green scored 10 for the Griffins, who made 11 of 25 3-pointers.
Jordan Allen helped the Broncs keep it close after the break, scoring 20 of his 25 points in the second half. Xavier Lundy added 19 points, Kahlil Thomas scored 14 and Norville Carey 11.
