Wu, Patton help lift Sacramento State past Antelope Valley
SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- Jeff Wu scored a career-high 19 points and Joshua Patton a career-high 18 as Sacramento State shot 57 percent from the floor and defeated Antelope Valley 97-74 on Wednesday night.
Wu broke into double figures for the first time this season making 8 of 12 field goals with three 3-pointers while Patton was 5-for-6 shooting and converted 8 of 9 free throws.
All five starters for the Hornets reached double digits -- Justin Strings scored 15 with nine rebounds, Izayah Mauriohoohoo-Le'Afa had 12 points and nine assists, and Bryce Fowler with his first double-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds.
Hayden Hall led the NAIA Pioneers with 19 points, shooting 5-for-9 with four 3-pointers. Hall hit a pair of 3s to give Antelope Valley the early 8-4 lead and the Hornets didn't overtake them until Strings nailed a 3-pointer to go up 16-14 at 13:28. Wu scored for a 27-26 Sacramento State lead at 6:21 and it was 45-35 by halftime.
