Alonso retakes MLB lead with 46th, 47th homers

Here's a new defensive alignment: With the bases empty against Wilson Ramos, the Diamondbacks are actually going with a TWO-man outfield, with the shortstop playing deep in the hole and three fielders on the left side. Ramos beats the five-man infield with a hard grounder up the middle -- and Ramos is 2-for-2 against the odd alignment.

The D-backs are the 11th MLB team to commit to or install extended safety netting since a toddler's 5/29 head injury on a foul liner in Houston. Thursday on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM, Pres./CEO Derrick Hall said of the team's planned 2020 extensions, "I can't live with myself if anything were to happen to any fan, especially one who cannot protect herself or himself, if it's someone elderly or young, and when you see that happen time and time again, there's no reason not to extend it."
