Glass: Selling Royals difficult, but it's 'right time'

Reflecting on his 20 years as Royals owner, David Glass said the decision to sell the team was "one of the most difficult" he has ever made, but added, "There's a time for everything, and it's the right time."

Milwaukee announced plans Fri. to extend safety netting for next season, becoming the 12th MLB team to commit to or put in extensions since a toddler's 5/29 head injury on a foul liner in Houston. The Astros, Chisox, Dodgers, Nats & O's have installed extensions & the Braves, D-backs, Jays, Pirates, Rangers & Royals say they plan to. Some teams say they're considering extensions and Miami had extended its to 150 feet past each dugout before this season.

Soler becomes first Royal with 40-homer season

Jorge Soler extended his team record with his 40th homer, Hunter Dozier and Alex Gordon had three hits each, and the Kansas City Royals beat the Detroit Tigers 5-4 on Wednesday night.

Break out the champagne glasses! The Royals now have a 40-home run hitter! Jorge Soler become the first player in Royals history to reach 40 -- and now all 30 clubs have had one. The longest 40-homer drought now belongs to the Pirates as Willie Stargell was the last to reach that figure, in 1973.

Soler breaks KC home run record, Royals beat Tigers

Jorge Soler broke the Kansas City home run record with his 39th homer of the season and Ryan O'Hearn hit a game-ending home run to lift the Royals to a 6-5 win over the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday night.
