Alberta's Provincial Court plans a 5/8 public fatality inquiry into the 6/18/17 death of boxer Tim Hague, 34, of a brain hemorrhage after 4 knockdowns in a 2-round TKO by Adam Braidwood. The proceeding, unrelated to a wrongful death suit filed by Hague's family against the Edmonton Combative Sports Commission & other defendants alleging inadequate protection and care, is to help clarify what happened & make recommendations to prevent similar deaths. Hague was 1-3 as a boxer & 21-13 in MMA.
With Kai Kara-France falling out of UFC 284 on Feb. 11 due to injury, his opponent Alex Perez has been moved to March 25 against Manel Kape per sources. Nos. 6 and 9 ranked fighters in the UFC's flyweight division, respectively.
A flyweight bout on Saturday's UFC Fight Night event in Orlando between Tracy Cortez and Amanda Ribas has been canceled, due to medial reasons on Cortez's side. Cortez made weight on Friday, but was still ruled out. Phillip Rowe will still fight Niko Price in a welterweight bout as scheduled, but he will forfeit 30 percent of his purse to Price after missing weight by 2.5 pounds.
