Bellator has signed middleweight prospect Khalid Murtazaliev, officials told ESPN. Murtazaliev, a Russia native, notably beat CB Dollaway via vicious TKO in 2018 at a UFC Fight Night, a stoppage that many thought referee Herb Dean called way too late. Murtazaliev (14-2) was subsequently suspended by USADA two years due to a positive steroid test and has not fought since.
Caught up with Edson Barboza. He wants to fight out his UFC contract in December, January. Wants a tough opponent, but not super picky. Believes he should be making more as a 24-fight UFC vet, and is open to signing elsewhere if UFC won't increase his pay. Barboza said, 'I am a good fighter. I know I'm good. That's no problem. If UFC doesn't want to pay me more, fine. I have no problem with UFC. But I know I'm a good fighter and I've fought here for 10 years."
Thursday’s Bellator 250 fight between Nick Newell and Zach Zane has been canceled after Newell tested positive for COVID-19, sources told ESPN's Ariel Helwani. In addition, the Veta Arteaga vs. Desiree Yanez fight has also been canceled because Arteaga tested positive, too. As a result, the Ty Gwerder vs. Dalton Rosta fight has been bumped up to the main card, sources say.
