Coastal Carolina Chanticleers @ Campbell Fighting Camels
Coastal Carolina beats Campbell 58-21 in a game played early
BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- Kilton Anderson threw three first-half touchdown passes to help Coastal Carolina beat Campbell 58-21 on Wednesday in a game played early and moved because of Hurricane Florence.
Originally set for Saturday at Coastal Carolina in Conway, South Carolina, the game was the first time an FBS program visited an FCS school in a true road game since Army at Yale in 2014. Admission was free at Barker-Lane Stadium, with 2,047 attending on the mostly cloudy afternoon with the temperature in the high 80s.
With its campus evacuated, the Chanticleers (2-1) headed to St. Augustine, Florida, after the game to wait out the storm.
Anderson was 10 of 14 for 202 yards and ran for 67 yards on five attempts. He threw a 12-yard scoring pass to Malcolm Williams in the first quarter, then hooked up with Ky'Jon Tyler on an 81-yarder and Williams on a 38-yarder in the second.
Backup Bryce Carpenter completed both of his passes, throwing a 21-yard touchdown pass to Jaivon Heiligh in the third quarter. Carpenter also ran for 56 yards on six carries.
Williams had four catches for 75 yards. Torrance Marable ran for 64 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries, and Marcus Outlaw had 63 yards and a touchdown on 14 attempts.
Daniel Smith was 16 of 34 for 218 yards and touchdown for the Camels (2-1).
