Beau Brungard accounts for 8 TDs as Youngstown State cruises past Duquesne 70-13


YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- — Beau Brungard accounted for eight touchdowns — seven coming in the first half — and Youngstown State cruised past Duquesne 70-13 on Saturday.

Brungard set a single-game school record with his sixth touchdown pass. Backup Malachi Lewis added 117 yards passing and a score to set another school record for total touchdown passes in a game.

Brungard finished 20 of 23 for 290 yards passing and six touchdowns for Youngstown State (2-1), which is ranked No. 10 in the Stats Perform poll. Brungard led the team with 14 carries for 111 yards and two scores — for his 12th career game with 100-plus passing and rushing yards.

Youngstown State led 49-10 at halftime.

Brungard was 16 of 19 for 256 yards and six touchdowns in the first half. He also rushed 12 times for 101 yards and another score. Brungard capped a 75-yard drive in the third quarter with a short touchdown run to make it 56-10.

Lynn Wyche-El had four catches for 73 yards and two touchdowns in the first half. Bryan Hunt, Dorian Williams, Jeremiah Sanders and Jaden Gilbert also had a touchdown grab by halftime.

Duquesne (0-2) was held to 13 first downs and 244 total yards.
