Jocelyn Briski pitches one-hitter as Alabama shuts out Belmont

Jocelyn Briski threw a complete-game one-hitter to lead the Alabama Crimson Tide to a 3-0 win over the Belmont Bruins in the Tuscaloosa Regional of the NCAA softball tournament Saturday at Rhoads Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.

All of Alabama's offense came in a decisive first inning. Marlie Giles delivered the key blow with a two-run single that scored Jena Young and Alexis Pupillo. Audrey Vandagriff followed with an RBI groundout to bring home Ana Roman. The Crimson Tide also received hits from Young, Pupillo and Kristen White.

Briski was dominant in the circle for Alabama, allowing just a single hit and one walk while striking out seven batters. She faced just three batters over the minimum, never allowing a Belmont runner to advance past second base.

The Belmont offense was stymied all afternoon, managing just one baserunner until the final inning. Tallulah Eichholz broke up the no-hitter with a single in the bottom of the sixth. Starter Maya Johnson pitched a complete game in the loss, allowing three runs on five hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.
