Mexico v Switzerland
Giménez ends drought but Mexico falls to Switzerland
Santiago Gimenez ended a 16-game scoreless streak at international level but it wasn't enough to prevent Mexico suffering a 4-2 loss to Switzerland in Saturday's friendly in Salt Lake City.
Giménez found the net with Mexico for the first time since the 2023 Gold Cup final, heading home from six yards in the 51st minute to cancel out Breel Embolo's first-half opener for Switzerland.
But the Swiss struck twice in seven minutes midway through the second period through Zeki Amdouni and Dan Ndoye to take a decisive lead.
Ángel Sepúlveda pulled a goal back for Mexico two minutes after coming off the bench to replace Giménez but it was only a consolation for Javier Aguirre's side.
Mexico continues it preparations to defend its Gold Cup title with a friendly against Turkey in North Carolina on Tuesday.
