Twitch and Psyonix have confirmed the third season of the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) on Tuesday after a two-month offseason. The third season will, for the first time, include Oceanic participants, expanding Rocket League's premier event to three regions total. Season 3 three will kick off on March 4-5.
Other changes include a prize pool increase from $250,000 to $300,000, as well as the announcement of a weekly talk show to cover "all things Rocket League Esports."
RLCS returns with open registration Feb. 9, allowing an unlimited amount of teams to compete in the first round. With the inclusion of teams from the Oceanic region, expect the total number of participants to naturally grow in the third installment of the RLCS. And with returning champions FlipSid3 Tactics presumably in the mix, and looking strong in the offseason, RLCS 3 could be set up to be one of the most exciting yet.
RLCS Season 1 began in the middle of 2016, as teams competed for a spot in the grand finals in Los Angeles in August, with iBUYPOWER Cosmic (now picked up by G2 Esports) taking the title. Season 2 began shortly after, this time with teams battling for a spot in the International Finals in Amsterdam.
