Lewis Hamilton will have news on his contract for 2016 at the next round in Monaco and has dismissed claims his negotiations with Mercedes have reached deadlock.
Hamilton has been in talks with Mercedes since he won the title last year, but progress appears to have slowed in recent months as both sides smooth out the finer details. The deliberating has led to speculation he has either reached deadlock with Mercedes or is looking to Ferrari, but Hamilton said such rumours are wide of the mark.
"That is not the case," he told the British press. "It is utter bullshit, basically. All stories that have come out about money are generally bullshit.
Asked if the deal was any closer, he responded: "You'll see it in Monaco - I will have some news for you in Monaco."
Hamilton is negotiating his own terms without the help of a management company and he said working directly with his lawyers has opened his eyes to the complexities of the contract.
"I have read it several times, so I'm fluent in lawyer jargon - I could pretty much write my own contract right now. It's been good in that sense because when I retire I'm going to have to write some contracts - if any of you need a manager, I think I could do a good job for you!"
