Coventry City vs Newcastle: Frank Lampard's side win in emphatic style with second-half stunners - as it happened

Frank Lampard's Coventry City earned a famous home win against Newcastle on Monday night with a devastating second-half performance seeing them come out 4-1 winners.

Jack Rudoni gave the home side the lead early on and barring a Sven Botman stunner, from there it was really all Coventry with Sidiki Cherif, Ellis Simms and Stephen Mfuni getting on the scoresheet to put a poor Newcastle to the sword.

Relive the action below.

The last time Newcastle played on a Monday night they were hammered 4-1 by Leeds and suffered the same miserable fate in Coventry less than a month later.

Rudoni's sixth-minute penalty gave Lampard's side a dream start and their first Premier League goal in front of their own fans since John Hartson scored in a 1-0 win over Sunderland in April 2001.

It was the first time Coventry fans had seen a Premier League goal at the Coventry Building Society Arena with their last goal in the top flight coming at Highfield Road.

Lampard's side move out of the drop zone with the win and draw level on points with Manchester United on a memorable night.
