Everton are expected to seal a move for Aston Villa midfielder Idrissa Gueye in the next 24 hours, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.
As revealed last week, Everton had triggered Gueye's £7.1 million release clause as they look to bring the Senegal star to Goodison Park.
Gueye impressed at Aston Villa last season despite their relegation from the Premier League and the club were facing a battle to keep hold of the defensive midfielder this summer.
The 26-year-old joined Villa last summer from Lille and he scored one goal in 38 appearances for the midlands club.
A number of clubs in France have expressed an interest in Gueye, but Everton have moved quickly to meet the midfielder's release clause with Ronald Koeman a big fan of the defensive midfielder.
Gueye is undergoing his medical tests at Everton's training ground and is expected to put pen-to-paper on a long-term deal once he comes through that to become Everton's second signing of the summer.
